Write To Publish is a series of classes, workshops, and curriculum from Write from the Heart designed to take student writers from first idea to published book. Whether your student wants to write a novel, build a collection of short stories, develop a poetry collection, or craft a memoir we provide the coaching, the structure, and the professional editing to make it happen.
Every Write to Publish class includes individualized feedback from an experienced writing coach. Our annual classes add a dedicated beta readers group for peer collaboration throughout the writing process. And when the manuscript is ready, students work with a professional editor on our team. With over 25 years of experience in editing and publishing for each member of our Write to Publish staff, our team is ready to help students prepare their books for publication on Amazon.
Write to Publish: Novel (30-week) – Plan it, write it, workshop it with beta readers, edit it with a professional, publish it. Everything in one year. Available for High School and Middle School.
Step 1: Plan a Novel (4-week workshop) – Build your characters, map your plot, create your roadmap.
Step 2: Build Your Novel (12-week semester) – Write your draft with daily coach feedback. Available for High School and Middle School.
Step 3: Meet with an Editor and Publish (12-week semester) – Professional editing and publication on Amazon.
Build Your Collection: Fiction, Memoir & More (12 weeks) – Write four pieces with coach feedback. Choose short stories for all four, or mix genres.
Creative Writing: Short Story from Start to Finish OR Personal Story: Short Memoir from Start to Finish (4 weeks) – Write one complete story. Take it multiple times to build a collection.
Revise to Publish: Short Story Workshop OR Revise to Publish: Short Memoirs Workshop (4 weeks) – Bring two drafted stories and revise them to publication quality.
Take Short Story or Short Memoir from Start to Finish 2–4 times → Revise to Publish → Meet with an Editor and Publish or Publish Your Book.
Build Your Collection: Poetry (12-week semester) – Build a cohesive, themed poetry collection with coach feedback on every poem.
When your collection is ready: Meet with an Editor and Publish (semester) or Publish Your Book (workshop).
Our Poetry Playground workshops are a great way to start exploring the craft before committing to a full semester. Not required, but recommended.
Meet with an Editor and Publish (12-week semester) – Work with a professional editor to polish your manuscript and publish it.
Publish Your Book (4-week workshop) – Author bio, cover concept, back blurb, and Amazon KDP upload. Published in four weeks.
If you have a partial draft and a plan: Build Your Novel (12-week semester) picks up where you left off. Your coach will help you find your footing and finish the draft.
If you have a partial draft but no plan: Start with Plan a Novel (4-week workshop) to map out where your story is going, then move into Build Your Novel to write it.

Our annual classes are the most immersive Write to Publish experience. Students plan, write, and publish over 30 weeks with daily coaching, a dedicated beta readers group, and professional editing. This is the only track with built-in peer collaboration throughout the writing process.
Our semester classes offer focused, 12-week instruction with individualized coach feedback. Build your manuscript at your own pace, then bring it to our editor when it’s ready. These classes focus on one-on-one work with your coach: dedicated feedback on your writing without the group dynamic.
Our workshops are four-week classes that start the first Monday of any month. Write a story, plan a novel, revise your drafts, or publish a finished manuscript. Each includes coach feedback on every assignment.
No. Write to Publish classes are open to any student in grades 6–12. Some classes have prerequisites (Build Your Novel recommends a completed plan; Meet with an Editor requires a manuscript), but students do not need to have taken Write from the Heart classes previously.
Students publish through Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing). Their book is formatted, uploaded, and available for purchase as a paperback and/or ebook on Amazon. Students have the option to get their own ISBN or use Amazon’s free one. The book is theirs and they own it completely.
The annual class is our most immersive option: 30 weeks, with a dedicated beta readers group for peer feedback throughout the writing process, plus daily coaching and professional editing. The modular semester and workshop path offers the same quality of coaching and editing but without the peer component: it’s focused, individualized, one-on-one work with your coach and editor. Both paths end with a published book.
