Write from the Heart is an online composition and literature program designed for homeschoolers in middle and high school. We offer annual classes in composition, literature, and AP English. We also offer 4-week Workshop Intensive and Individualized Coaching Sessions for both public and homeschooled students. Our goal is to help students find their voices and grow in writing and critical thinking skills.
Above all, we believe that education is a personal journey of discovery. It is shaped by the personality of the child, the beliefs and values of the child’s family, and the experiences that the child encounters. It should never be undervalued. We desire to come alongside parents in helping each child through that personal journey.

Her experience with middle school learners comes from teaching in both public and private school settings and parenting three sons. Currently, she teaches English to adult immigrants to the U.S. In addition, Kelly has studied and practiced yoga for over two decades, and she currently teaches two weekly classes.
Emily Swafford, Writing Coach
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication
Emily Swafford took classes with Write from the Heart almost straight through middle and high school. She had always enjoyed writing, but through Write from the Heart, she discovered my love for helping others become better writers. She carried this into college, where she was a writing tutor and the copy editor for the school newspaper. Now, she does freelance editing work in addition to coaching for Write from the Heart. She lives in Delaware with her husband (another Write from the Heart alumnus!), their baby daughter, Lucy, and their cranky old dog, Missy.
