Comparison Writing Workshop (High School)

Compare texts like a college student. Read two short stories, analyze them side by side, and write a polished comparison essay: the exact skills college professors expect. Grades 9–12. Instructor feedback on every assignment.

Comparison essays are one of the most frequently assigned forms of writing in college and one of the hardest to do well. This workshop teaches students how by having them actively practice it: students read two short stories, identify meaningful points of comparison, and build a structured, well-supported comparison essay that analyzes both texts side by side. This isn’t abstract instruction about comparison. Students work with real literature and produce a real essay, learning to organize complex ideas, draw evidence from texts, and write with both clarity and voice. Instructor feedback on every assignment. Weekly deadlines. 2–3 hours per week. All materials provided.
