Semester Creative Writing: Scholastic Preparation

Prepare and polish entries for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Write, revise, and refine multiple contest pieces with instructor feedback. ½ credit.

This semester is designed for students who want to prepare serious entries for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Over three months, students write and revise multiple pieces with detailed coach guidance, producing polished, contest-ready work. If your student has creative work they’re proud of and wants expert help taking it to competition level, this is where that happens. Weekly deadlines. Instructor feedback on every activity. ½ credit.

Intended For Grades: 6-12

Time Expectation:

Classes have weekly assignments. All assignments will be due midnight Friday EST each week. Assignments are intended to take approximately 2-3 hours per week.

Class Features:

Students will have weekly contact with a coach who evaluates mastery and skills. Coaches also available via email all week long.
An online classroom will teach students time management and appropriate cyber behavior in a controlled environment.

All materials will be provided in the class.

Note: This course runs as a continuous 12-week semester. The writing and revision cycles build on each other sequentially and are designed to be completed together.
