SAT Preparation

Targeted English prep for the SAT. Comprehensive verbal section preparation with writing coach support and weekly practice. ½ credit.

This semester provides focused preparation for the verbal/English section of the SAT. Over three months, students work through the reading, writing, and language components of the test with instructor guidance and weekly practice. This isn’t a self-study test prep book. Students receive weekly assignments designed to build the specific skills the SAT tests. For students who want comprehensive test prep with real coaching rather than an app or workbook. Weekly deadlines. Three one-month units that can be taken consecutively or spaced across your school year. ½ credit.

Intended For Grades: 10-12

Time Expectation:
  • Classes have weekly assignments. All assignments will be due midnight Friday EST each week. Assignments are intended to take approximately 2-3 hours per week.
Class Objectives:
  • Develop thesis statements and voice for academic writing
  • Prepare proper MLA works cited page and citations
  • Understand quoting and paraphrasing sources
  • Ask and understand research questions
  • Create a full outline for a research project
  • Create additional genres to supplement research
  • Utilize the revision process to improve writing
Class Features:
  • Students will have weekly contact with a coach who evaluates mastery and skills.  Coaches also available via email all week long.
  • An online classroom will teach students time management and appropriate cyber behavior in a controlled environment.
