Research Writing Semester

From thesis to final paper. Voice in academic writing, source evaluation, research organization, and a complete research paper: the full process, coached from start to finish. ½ credit.

This semester walks students through the entire research writing process – not just the final paper, but every skill that leads to it. Students begin by developing voice in expository writing, so their research papers sound like a human being wrote them. Then they learn to find, evaluate, and organize sources. The semester culminates in a complete research paper incorporating multiple genres and sources. By the end, students don’t just know how to write a research paper. They’ve done it, with instructor guidance at every step. This semester builds the skills that students will use in every high school and college course that requires research. Weekly deadlines. Three one-month units that can be taken consecutively or spaced across your school year. All materials provided. ½ credit.
