Practical Writing

Real-world writing skills students will use every day. Opinion writing, online communication and safety, personal letters, invitations, and thank-you notes: practical skills with instructor feedback. ½ credit.

Some of the most important writing your student will do is in their everyday lives. This semester teaches the everyday writing skills that students actually need and that most programs never cover. Students learn to express opinions clearly in writing, communicate effectively and safely online, and master the personal writing forms that matter in real life: letters, invitations, and thank-you notes. This is an especially valuable semester for middle schoolers developing their digital communication skills and for any student who needs practice writing for real-world purposes beyond the essay. Instructor feedback on every activity. Weekly deadlines. Three one-month units that can be taken consecutively or spaced across your school year. All materials provided. ½ credit.
