Build confidence across three essential writing styles designed for middle school writers. Essay writing, informative writing, and comparison writing, are taught progressively across three months with instructor feedback on every activity. Grades 6–9. ½ credit.
This semester is designed specifically for middle school writers who are ready to build real academic writing skills. Over three months, students work through foundational types of writing that every student needs:
Students will learn to write organized, thesis-driven essays from brainstorming and outlining to writing complete, polished drafts. They will also learn how to research topics that interest them, organize their findings, and explain ideas clearly. Each skill is practiced using real-life topics, building the analytical and organizational skills they’ll use when these types of essays show up in high school and beyond. Each unit builds on the one before it, and students finish the semester with experience across three essential writing forms. This semester gives students the time and coaching to develop genuine proficiency across multiple styles. Instructor feedback on every activity. Weekly deadlines. Three one-month units that can be taken consecutively or spaced across your school year. All materials provided. ½ credit.
