Build Your Novel (Middle School)

Turn your idea into a book. This class gives students twelve weeks of structured novel drafting with coach feedback turning a plan into a real manuscript.

You have a plan. Now write the book.

Build Your Novel (Middle School) is for students who have a plan for their novel and are ready to write it. Students work through their manuscript in four structured sections with age-appropriate pacing and length expectations, drafting, receiving coach feedback, and revising as they go. The overlapping cycle of writing new material while revising earlier sections builds the discipline and confidence that young writers need to finish a book-length project.

Your coach reads every section, provides encouraging and specific feedback, and helps students push through the moments where the story feels stuck or the motivation fades. This class focuses on individualized, one-on-one work with your coach; others may be in the class, but peer collaboration is not required. Students finish the semester with a complete draft ready for professional editing.

Students who have completed our Plan a Novel workshop are ready to begin. Students who have planned independently are welcome. If your student started writing but stalled — whether they have 10 pages or 100 — reach out to us. Their coach can help determine whether they’re ready to dive in or whether a few weeks with Plan a Novel would set them up for success.

Your story. Your voice. No creative limits. Fantasy, mystery, adventure, science fiction, humor — whatever sparks your imagination.

Finished your draft? Take Meet with an Editor and Publish to work with a professional editor and publish your novel on Amazon. Already edited? Publish Your Book gets you from manuscript to marketplace in four weeks.
