Bundle Creative Writing: Voice Basics and Playing with Narrators together and save!

Creative Writing: Voice Basics focuses on the basics of finding your voice and making your writing come alive. Each week will look at a different technique such as descriptive details, inner thoughts, and dialogue. This class can be used as a prerequisite for all our other creative writing workshops.

Creative Writing: Playing with Narrators helps students understand the role of point of view in writing and encourages them to explore different types of narrators. Activities will include writing pieces with unreliable narrators, animal or narrators, and first person narrators.

Classes start on the first Monday of each month and each class runs for 4 weeks. When checking out, choose the month you would like to start the FIRST class in the bundle. You will be contacted for the date to start the second class. Classes do not need to be taken in consecutive months.

Time Expectation:

Classes have weekly assignments. All assignments will be due midnight Friday EST each week. Assignments are intended to take approximately 2-3 hours per week.

Class Objectives for Voice Basics:

Understand and utilize descriptive details
Improve and blend inner ideas with description
Adapt time to tell a story
Create engaging dialogue
Develop and revise a short story

Class Objective for Playing with Narrators:

Understand narrator point of view
Experiment with multiple narrators in one situation
Develop a narrator profile and backstory
Create stories and sketches from 1st and 2nd point of view
Develop and revise a short story

Class Features:

Students will have the opportunity to submit their work to a writing contest as part of the class
Students will have weekly contact with a coach who evaluates mastery and skills. Coaches also available via email all week long.
An online classroom will teach students time management and appropriate cyber behavior in a controlled environment.

All materials will be provided in the class.
