World Builder Workbook

Turn “I don’t know what my world looks like” into a setting with details, rules, and a map.

The World Builder Activity Book helps kids ages 8+ design a story setting in three easy steps—from the big idea (real world, fantasy, sci-fi, historical, or alternate reality) to the small details that make a place feel real. Kids choose a key location, set the mood, and build the basics (time period, landscape, climate, plants/animals), then explore the inhabitants and culture, create simple world rules, and draw a map of the setting. It’s encouraging and low-pressure (no perfect drawing or spelling needed) and can be easily adapted for older kids up to 13–14.

This book works as a standalone activity or as Book 2 of our Creative Writing Trilogy—designed to pair perfectly with Character Creator (Book 1) and Story Writer (Book 3).
